Munro Group acquires 13 Scottish retail stores from Alliance Boots

In response to enquiries from the trade, we can confirm that the Munro Group has entered into a contract to purchase 13 of the 18 Scottish stores that Alliance Boots were required by the OFT to divest as part of their recent merger.

Group Managing Director John Cochrane stated “This exercise naturally attracted much interest and following such a rigorous tendering process we are naturally delighted that Alliance Boots chose Munro as their preferred purchaser. To have some stores return to the independent sector is quite unusual in recent times and we believe that this is a welcome boost to community pharmacy in Scotland. As well as increasing the number of Munro retail outlets to 29, this was a strategic acquisition to complement our existing full line wholesale depots in Aberdeen and East Kilbride. This acquisition demonstrates our confidence and commitment to the sector and will not be our last such deal.”
